How Not To Get Cancer
Format: 4 x 44-minute documentary series
Director: Rachel Currie

Broadcaster: TVNZ 1 (Made with the support of NZ On Air)
Cancer is an epidemic that inevitably touches all our lives. In one year the disease killed 8.8 million people globally and the number of deaths is projected to skyrocket. Many believe cancer comes down to bad genes or bad luck – and sometimes that's true – but we have more power in our own hands than we realise. It is estimated that at least 40% of cancers can be prevented by lifestyle changes. Even more by changing our environments and through medical and scientific interventions.
In this four-part documentary series cancer surgeon Richard Babor sorts the science from superstition to find out what we can do to keep the cancer wolf from our doors.
